Think about it: if he had stayed in South America for just two extra days, the news of his affair would’ve been on page 16, instead of on the cover.
At least Rep. Gary Condit benefited (of sorts) from 9/11.

   it’s all in the timing………
   Sanford had the headlines alllllllllllll to himself, for sheer lack of any other breaking news that day.
   Farrah Fawcett’s death gave him a LITTLE hiccup…….but Michael’s death will sufficiently bury Sanford’s mess to the back pages.
   He got lucky.
   He only had to twist in the wind, for a few days.
   Could have been worse.
