Dred Scott V. Sanford 1852 What Was The Decision?

I just finish reading the Dred Scott v. Sanford 1852 case , but i didnt quite catch what was the decision .. after he sued Emerson and then Sandford he sued to Supreme Court of US what happened? he won lose? something??? please and thank help me ^-^

  1. The Supreme Court ruled that a slave was not a person and could not sue in the courts. If a slave was not a person, what was he? The Court ruled that a slave was property and property is protected. You cannot take a person’s property away from him without his consent. Thus, a slave, as property, could be taken anywhere in the nation. It declared the idea of popular sovereignty unconstitutional.   2. The Supreme Court ruled that Dred Scott had no right to even file suit becuase he wasa slave and slaves where considered as property and he was not allowed his freedom.

  3. The Supreme Court found that slaves or their descendents could not ever become citizens of the US, and that the Congress couldn’t prohibit slavery in any state.
